News and Views 4th December 2008

Make Pakistan pay this time (www.newindpress.com)

Russian navy in Panama Canal. A Russian warship will sail through the Panama Canal this week for the first time since the Second World War, a voyage seen as a symbolic projection of power in what has been considered an American zone of influence. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/)

Terrorists could mount nuclear or biological attack within 5 years, warns Congress inquiry (http://www.guardian.co.uk/)

Tirukural - Chapter 84: Folly. The folly of all follies is to find pleasure in doing what one is forbidden to do (Kauai_Hindu_Monastery@jnanadana.com)

Vedic Verses for 12/3/08. The ten abstinences are nonviolence, truth, nonstealing, chastity, kindness, rectitude, forgiveness, endurance, temperance in food and purity. He who knows this, having become peaceful, controlled, detached, patient and concentrated, sees the atman in himself and sees all in the atman. Evil does not overcome him, but he overcomes all evil; evil does not consume him, but he consumes all evil. Free from evil, free from passion, free from doubt, he becomes a knower of Brahman. (Kauai_Hindu_Monastery@jnanadana.com)

Gospel of Jesus: Did Jesus advise to Divide, to Kill, and to Rule? Was he a Terrorist? Who can believe this?

Thailand protestors lift airport siege (www.hindustantimes.com)

8 kg of RDX found amid luggage near CST in Mumbai on Wednesday, 2nd December 2008. (www.hindu.com)

VIP security: At the cost of common man. The Manmohan Singh government's majority was under threat after the Left pulled out. So, Amar Singh's threat perception and security was upgraded to Z-plus, after the SP voted for the government. in Parliament. Amar Singh faces no terror threats. (www.ndtv.com)

Foot-in-mouth disease - If only our politicians could be cautious! Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who is desperately trying to cling on to office, may have resisted the temptation of shoving his feet into his mouth in full public view, but he has really fared no better than either Mr Patil or Mr Achuthanandan. It is unimaginable that he should have gone on a guided tour of the gutted Taj Mahal Palace hotel along with his actor son Reitesh and director of Bollywood kitsch Ram Gopal Varma after NSG commandos had killed the last of the terrorists and sanitised the place.

Next terror attack on US possibly with weapons of mass destruction, the report said will originate in Pak: Report (http://dailypioneer.com/)

Accountability Of Intelligence Agencies. It seems to be the contention of the IB and the R&AW that what happened in Mumbai was a serious instance of physical security failure and failure to act on available intelligence and not an instance of intelligence failure. (By B. Raman) (http://southasiaanalysis.org)

PAKISTAN: THUS FAR & NO FURTHER. The US was interested only in protecting the lives and property of its citizens and in preventing another 9/11 in the US homeland from Pakistani territory. So long as Pakistan was co-operating with the US in action against Al Qaeda, the US closed its eyes and continues to close its eyes to Pakistani support for acts of jihadi terrorism directed against India. (By B.Raman) (http://southasiaanalysis.org)

Congress: The end of an innings? Mahatma Gandhi wanted the Congress to be dissolved in 1947. It is now due to be dissolved in 2009. (By M.V. Kamath) (http://www.organiser.org/) (G.C.A : I clearly remember that Mahatma Gandhi had also said that sick of Congress Members’ conduct people may man-handle (and worse?) accused Congress man in the streets. Let us hope that things will not go that far.)

Kerala Church in the dock after the arrest of two priests and a nun on rape, murder charges. Despite seven teams of CBI investigating this case for almost 15 years, no arrests could be made, because of the political, social and muscle power of the church which was prepared to go from Narasimha Rao to Sonia Gandhi to save its tainted clergy.(By S Chandrasekhar) (http://www.organiser.org/) ( G.C.A Very unfortunate that Kerala Church is infested by sex crimes; also the Church has influence upto India’s Prime Minister’s and even higher levels to destroy evidence and to save criminal priests !)

Pakistan refuses to hand over jihadists to India (http://www.jihadwatch.org/)

Jihadists call for attacks on Danish targets in revenge for book containing new Muhammad cartoons (http://www.jihadwatch.org/)

Next: India and its innocent nationals suffered colossal losses due to the terrorism which is on-going for last several decades. But why blame Pakistan and the Terrorists for the same ? Our enemies are within. In the vote-bank politics the country has been pushed beyond the edge. All the gullible Indian people need to be enlightened and told in clear terms that the main defaulters in this case are the ones who have been at the helm of affairs of our country - UPA PM Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Changing of the Home Ministers is a mere eye-wash. The real culprits are wearing a mask and shrewdly hiding in the broad day-light. But what about the Prime Minister? >>
