May your guardian hosts, Lord, eager and vigilant, persistent and kindly, friendly and unwearied, gather in this place on our behalf, for our help and protection, O Lord unfailing!

Rig Veda IV, 4, 12

Your guardian rays in olden times preserved from affliction blind Mamateya. In their turn the gracious All-Knowing one guarded them. Evil men bent on damage could do no harm.
